Maasai Mara, Nakuru, Ol Pejeta & Samburu
7 Nights

Day 1

06:00 – Departure from Nairobi towards Samburu National Reserve (approximately 6-7 hours)
Samburu, located in northern Kenya, covers 104 square kilometers and sits 850 meters above sea level. It is home to unique species such as Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, Beisa oryx, greater and lesser kudu, gerenuk, Somali ostriches, and the endangered Pancake tortoises, alongside typical park residents like big cats, elephants, buffalos, and hyenas. The park has only one water source, the Ewaso Ng’iro River, which supports crocodiles and hippos, along with many bird species.

 

13:00 – 16:00 – Arrival, check-in, and lunch
Relax until around 16:00 when the temperatures begin to cool down.

 

16:00 – 18:30 – First game drive in Samburu
Experience the reserve’s unique flora and fauna during the evening game drive.

 

18:30 – Return to lodge for dinner and overnight stay

Day 2

06:30 – 08:30 – Morning game drive in Samburu
Start the day with coffee or tea at the lodge, then head out for a morning game drive to spot nocturnal animals before they retreat for the day. Return to the lodge for breakfast around 08:30.

10:00 – 12:30 – Mid-morning game drive
Your driver-guide will share insights into the unique species encountered. Feel free to ask questions about Kenya’s wildlife and culture.

 

13:00 – 16:00 – Lunch and rest
Enjoy a break before the next game drive.

 

16:00 – 18:30 – Evening game drive
As the sun sets, enjoy the last evening in the African bush with stunning views of the savannah.

18:30 – Return to lodge for dinner and overnight stay

Day 3

06:00 – Early breakfast and check-out
Drive towards Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Nanyuki, a journey of around 5 hours with a restroom and coffee break.

 

12:00 – Arrival at Ol Pejeta
Enjoy a short game drive upon arrival, followed by lunch at the lodge. After a brief rest, head out for the afternoon game drive.

 

16:00 – Afternoon game drive in Ol Pejeta
The conservancy offers views of Mount Kenya, sightings of both black and white rhinos, big cats, and various other mammals and birds.

 

18:30 – Return to camp for dinner and overnight stay

Day 4

Full day in Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Take advantage of additional activities (optional), such as visiting Kenya's only chimpanzee sanctuary, viewing the last two northern white rhinos, or feeding Baraka, a blind black rhino. Standard and night game drives are also available.

Day 5

Early breakfast and check-out
Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park. Check-in at the lodge, lunch, and an afternoon game drive in search of rhinos, the rare Rothschild giraffe, and other species of animals and birds.

Evening – Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel

Day 6

06:00 – Early breakfast and check-out
A short morning game drive, followed by a transfer to Maasai Mara Reserve with a stop at the Rift Valley viewpoint.

 

Maasai Mara
Established in 1961, Maasai Mara National Reserve spans 1,800 km² and is renowned for the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebras across the Mara River, attracting lions, cheetahs, and leopards.

 

12:00–13:00 – Arrival and lunch in Maasai Mara
Check-in at the lodge, enjoy lunch, and relax before the afternoon safari.

 

16:00 – Afternoon game drive
As the temperature cools, animals become more active, making this an ideal time for a game drive. Your guide will search for wildlife, communicating with other drivers to locate animals. The safari will continue until dusk, around 18:00–18:30.

Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge

Day 7

Full day in Maasai Mara
Plan the day with your guide, who can recommend the best times for game drives to maximize wildlife sightings, possibly even the wildebeest crossing the Mara River. A morning hot air balloon ride is also an excellent option.

18:00–18:30 – Return to lodge for dinner and overnight stay

​

Day 8

Early breakfast and check-out
After breakfast, transfer back to Nairobi.
